One Week In The Life Of Me
My days and weeks are pretty predictable. I like to get up around seven, eat an early breakfast with a cup of coffee while watching the Good Morning America show on TV. Walt leaves for wherever he is going around eight, and I start my day.
I like to plan my day after I get up. I have a chronic illness, so I have to listen to what my body tells me I am able to do.
At other times in my life my routine has been considerably different than it is now, but we are talking about what I like to do at this time.
I am a crossword puzzle buff. I like the really, really hard ones that take a long time to solve, they have to be a challenge to hold my interest. I started working puzzles when i was fourteen. When I was a teeenager I met this boy who worked them in ink. He said it made him feel confident because he couldn't erase his mistakes and everyone could see them. I work in ink also, because one of my goals when working a puzzle is to do the entire puzzle without an error. My favorite crossword puzzle book is Penny Press because it has both challenger and expert puzzles.
In recent months I have started a study of the Bible. I am reading Genesis and Revelation. I study Genesis with a Bible study group and Revelation with a tape from the sermons of the Pastor of Calvary Chapel Faith. I am finding this new interest in my life to be very exciting and rewarding.
I have always been an avid reader. When I was a little girl in the "one room country school house", I read everything in the little library. Uncle Tom's Cabin, Tom Sawyer, and Black Beauty are some titles I remember. History was my favorite subject in school because it was like reading a story about something that really happened.
As an adult I like to read books that are different. I don't care for reading the same author over and over, but occasionally the author is so good I like all his or her books. I liked James Michener, Jean M. Auel, Taylor Caldwell, Agatha Christie, Willa Cather to name a few. I especially like books that are based on fact, or a part of the country that i am familliar with.

I spend some time each day on my computer, answering e-mail and sending e-mail. I correspond with several cousins that i lost touch with through the years. Recently one of these cousins, Robert Jones, came out to see his daughter in Spokane and Walt and I went over to meet with him and his wife. The last time I saw him I was 15 and he was 20. Most of these cousins live in the midwest. I am hoping to get one of them to set up a sort of reunion, and get everyone in one place then Walt and I can drive back and meet all of them. That would be a real treat for me. I enjoy being around family and reminiscing about old times.
A new interest I have been thinking about getting started on is genealogy. Lorene, my oldest sister, worked on it a lot until she bacame ill. When she passed away she left me all her papers hoping i would some day have the time and interest to finish it. Being in this class I have been going through some of her work looking for information about ancestors to use in my stories. She has a lot of information and most of it has been verified by birth, census and death records.
I try to play my piano at least once a week. I don't play well, and have only had three lessons, but playing is very relaxing for me. I can read for both hands, but a lot of the time I chord. Chroming is easier and I can play more pieces that way. My Mother could play the piano by ear. I wish God had given me that talent, but no such luck. After the kids were off on their own I told Walt I would like to get a piano and take some lessons. That Christmas he bought me a beautiful new piano. It is one of my favorite things in our home.

I recently quit working after some thirty years. I was really concerned about what I would do with my time. I had no hobbies or talents for crafts and i wasn't too crazy about housework or gardening or even cooking to tell the truth As you can tell i have found plenty to keep me occupied and I'm sure new interest will be cropping up here and there.
